hand rolls
Hand rolls really are fairly simple once you've done one. They're quick and easy, and here's how to make them.
| Start with a half-sheet of nori. | ![]() |
| Place a small handful of rice on one side. Don't spread it out like you would if you were making a normal roll. Apply wasabi if desired. | ![]() |
| Place your filling diagonally across the rice, pointing to the corner. | ![]() |
| Begin by folding the corner around the rice and the filling as shown in the picture here. | ![]() |
| With the first fold tucked in, begin to roll the long part of the nori around the rice and filling. | ![]() |
| Continue rolling until you reach the end of the nori. If the nori won't seal itself, use a small amount of tezu or water to seal it. | ![]() |
| Here's the finished hand roll. | ![]() |
